See here for changes !!! The event is going ahead after all changes have been agreed. Clcik above for more....
So this year’s event has sent us a few curve balls culminating in an interesting change to the course AND direction. With the Pinnacles track closed and another event on the Peninsula on the Saturday we are now doing the Event in reverse for the first time.
The usual Friday night gear check and race briefing will now be at the Thames Rugby Club. (455 Ngati Maru Hwy, Thames 3578) Just South of the town on the left heading North.
We will head South on the Road bike and do the original " Day 2" anti-clock wise. This will be the same as before landing you in Tairua at the end of day One.
The Sunday will then start in Tairua but on the road bike heading North to Cooks Beach. The multi-sporters will switch to the kayak and the Duathletes looping at Cooks and both then changing over to Coroglen.
This is were the original format changes - from Coroglen Transition all athletes will switch onto the MTB to head up and West over the Te Tapu Road for about 20km.. There you will transition onto the run; the Final leg dropping you into Thames to finish at Thames High School.
